Positive experiences build health brains. Trauma causes our brains to adjust to negative experiences that keep us in a fight, flight or frozen state.

We can make our brains healthier by building positive experiences like these:

  • Spending time near the ocean, forest or urban parks

  • Bodywork (massage, sauna, hot bath)

  • Resting in a comforting space (this is not sleep, it's REST)

  • Warming the base of the neck with a heating pad/warm gel pack

It is important to keep in mind that bodywork can sometimes be difficult because certain sensations may bring up unwanted emotions or memories.

Be gentle and kind with yourself in your approach to different experiences you want to try. It takes time for our brains to let go and rewire to new things. Our bodies need time to connect to what our brains are asking of them.

Create the experiences that make sense for you and enjoy the journey toward self-healing.
